I hadn’t danced, much less performed in over a decade when I walked into Pacific Grove Dance. It was a few years ago that I decided to give myself the gift of dance for my 6oth birthday, specifically Ballroom Dance. I am a Modern Dancer with training that stems back to Hanya Holm, one of the founders of Modern Dance. Add to that a good dose of Ballet training and years of teaching dance and more recently owning a Pilates and Gyrotonic studio. Ballroom is a completely different genre, replete with sparkles and 3-inch heels so I was not only out of my comfort zone style wise, I also had no experience following a lead. I soon learned that follow/lead actually meant a shared connection and I am learning something new and wondrous. I’m sure in the beginning I was like pulling a cat on a leash!
These two sites inspired me to move into my 60’s dancing. Let me know what inspires you for your next decade….
Following/leading…a very important skill to learn. Dancing is more enjoyable when you develop that shared connection with your dance partner. Thanks for sharing the two sites.
